Jane Lake and Promptness

I don't have a lot of pet peeves, but I hate when someone is late, especially when it is their pattern. People always have an excuse. "I got stuck in traffic". "My kids wouldn't cooperate." "I got lost."

But the bottom line is that if you are cognizant of the time you will not be late. I can't remember the last time I was late for something. It is rude and inconsiderate. I know a lot of people that just prefer someone else to wait rather than themselves. Or people brag that they don't wear a watch like they are special.

Patience may be a virtue, but promptness is, in my mind, a badge of honor, and one that too few people wear.

Jane Lake and Rain!

I hate rain. It makes everything worse. Plans are ruined. Umbrellas get inverted and your shoes get soaked. Driving is dangerous and wet jeans are the worst! and flooding, fuhgettaboutit. You would think someone would have come up with a way to divert it away from streets and sidewalks and have it rain only on grassy areas. Come on Gates, with all the free time you will have, come up with something!

Note:

Kids love it and watching it rain from a dry place can be fun, but thats what water parks and car washes are for.

Jane Lake and Swearing!

Why do people swear anymore? These are the three reasons I think it is silly.

1) The words have no meaning. If you call someone a big jerk or a f------ jerk, it has no distinction. You would be better off calling the person a jerk extrordinaire.

2) No one admires people that swear. No one will say "Oh, you must read a lot" or "I want to grow up like him"

3) It makes people mad. Try saying to someone on the subway. Could you please move over sh--head" and see what happens.

I guess the only reason the words are still around is that bad stand up comics use them when they have no other way of being funny.

Jane Lake asks that you please don't swear and especially around children! Who gives a bibble anyway?

Jane Lake and Work

I am not lazy, but I will be the first to admit that if I won the lottery, or more people contribute to my $5b quest (see donation button above), the first thing I would do is quit my job.

People who love working 14 hours a day in an office building scare me. What is better than sleeping in, going out for brunch, walking around the city, surfing the internet, catching a movie, and back for an afternoon nap. Being with friends and family are the times I am happiest. Living for the weekends is not fun. I have to work on at least getting a work from home job.

Between my quest, Chain Reaction, and the lottery, something has to break!

Jane Lake and Blogs!

In a short time I have learned some vital points about blogging and blogs:

1) Just like a picnic, the more good food you have the more ants you attract.

2) You can lose readers by putting yourself out there.

3) You can gain readers by putting yourself out there.

4) Never underestimate the amount of lurkers for your blog, as they are your real contingency.

5) Jane Lake is just at the beginning. Stay tuned!

Jane Lake and Abortion!

Okay, lets get it over with. The most controversial subject on this planet, and yet to me it is completely straightforward.

Scientists have known that life begins at conception since the late 1800's. That isn't my opinion or even an opinion at all. It is like saying the Earth revolves around the sun. DUH! Margaret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood) hoped to use abortion to eliminate undesirables. She was one of the most dangerous racists this planet has ever known. She manipulated women, politicians, churches, and businesses to ultimately kill tens of millions of innocent lives, to this very day!

So anyone that says that abortion is anything but taking a human life, and anything but harmful to women is:

a: lacking morality
b: lacking intelligence
c: brainwashed by Planned Parenthood and the like.
d: completely misinformed
e: cowardly

I know these are strong words, but abortion kills more people than wars, the death penalty, and most diseases.

I wish we could go back in time and stop Ms. Sanger, but it is too late. Like this countries growing awareness of the evils of slavery, we will become deprogrammed about abortion as well as time goes on.

Why? Because we ultimately know inside of us what is right vs. wrong, and at the end of the day right always wins!

Jane Lake and Children!

I read an article in Time magazine about how having children makes you less happy overall, but the occasional moments of wondrous joy make it all worth it. They then compared it to heroin.

I fully agree with this based on my experience with kids, but I would caveat it to say that you have more control with kids. You don't have to take them to a restaurant and keep telling them to leave the sugar alone. You don't have to take them into a fine china shop and tell them not to touch anything. As long as kids are in a controlled environment meant for kids, they are great and everyone is happy!

Heroin (and all recreational drugs for that matter) is just stupid!

Jane Lake on Steak!

I get the question all the time. Why are you a vegetarian? Moral reasons or health reasons?

Well here it is. Health is obvious. Between mercury in seafood, Mad Cow disease, hormones, and pesticides, it is a no brainer that an organic vegetarian lifestyle is healthier.

But don't you get a craving for meat, they ask?

NO!

What happens is this. When you first become a vegetarian, you do think about the things that you loved that no longer are in your diet. Over time you develop new things that you love (the number of tasty vegetarian foods has geometrically increased over the past 10 years). All of a sudden, meat starts to look gross, and thinking of eating it has no appeal.

This is when the moral part kicks in. When you start to look at meat as cooked flesh, it begs the question of why. Why do we need to kill animals when we can be healthier without doing so? Few people would find the concept of eating a dog or cat appetizing, but have no problem with a lamb or a calf. Oh well, I'm not looking to convert anyone, just to put it out there.

Jane Lake Begins Her Quest!

After careful consideration, and the overwhelming support of my readers, I have decided to pursue my quest to raise $5 billion. You will see above, that I have added a donation button for this journey. Again, the suggested donation is $5,000, but as they say on the subway, "Whatever you can spare". The maximum tax free gift you can give is $12,000, but this will definitely get me to my goal quicker!

As the numbers get significant I will notify the Guinness Book, and I'm sure Forbes will be keeping an eye on me as well. I will post periodically on the progress, and support that I get from all of you.

Remember, this is not just about putting crazy money in my pocket. I will help the world and all of you, so START DONATING TODAY!

Jane Lake and the Obligatory Father's Day Post

Father's Day isn't one of my favorites. Oh, I love my father, don't get me wrong, but obligatory gift giving holidays is more a burden than a pleasure. Anyone that randomly gets a gift when they don't expect it would tell you it is something they remember forever.

Father's around the country will smile politely today at ugly ties, ugly shirts, and ugly sweaters, while cooking carcinogenic meat at the barbie for their families to enjoy. People who have no fathers or their dad has passed on will be painfully reminded of the absence.

Let's all HONOR THY FATHER by making every day a father's day, not just the third Sunday in June.

Jane Lake and Bill Gates!

Why does Bill Gates get to retire and Jane Lake has to keep on working? I think I would help the world more than Bill Gates if I had a multi-billion dollar foundation. Any ideas how I could raise a quick, let's say, $5 billion?

If I got 1,000,000 people to each give me $5,000, I would have it!

Yes, I know $5,000 is a lot of money for many people, but I'm sure there are 1 million people out there who it would be a drop in the bucket for. And I would get into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most money raised over the internet! I don't think I would have to pay any taxes either because it would all be tax free gifts.

I have to think about this a little more. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jane Lake and New York City!

Silly rabbit, New York is for kids! and everyone else!

Restaurants, skyscrapers, museums, theater, people.
Greenwich Village, Battery Park, Central Park,Soho, Tribeca, Upper East and Upper West... It never ends and it never stays the same.

The city is like a living, breathing organism. The food is infinite. My choices as a vegetarian are amazing. Zen Palate, VP2, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Indian, Lebanese, and did I say PIZZA!!!!

You take a walk and end up walking five miles before you know it. You can sit on a bench and be entertained for hours.

Just thought I would remind myself how great it is before it gets so hot and sticky, you can't breathe!

Jane Lake Tells It Like It Is!

My blog is not the prettiest, and my posts are not the wittiest, but what I bring to the table is an opportunity for others to see how something can come from very little.

I have many friends who tell me about what they are going to do, and how they are reading about how to do something and talking to people about the best ways to do it. The sad part is that they very rarely ever DO IT! And if they do, if they don't have immediate success, it fades away.

Blogging is a microcosm of any endeavor in one's life. It takes some work and you get very little immediate gratification, but over time you learn, discover, and explore. Things happen that you could not have planned and would not have expected. Opportunities expand and you become proficient in skills that you were just so-so with before.

Doing is much better than planning, and it is amazing how much you can actually fit into a day, and how much burden you can actually shoulder!

Jane Lake and Nick Lachey

Anyone who watched Newlyweds knows that Nick Lachey is a nice guy and Jessica Simpson was lucky to have him. But in relationships, and in life, people make more wrong choices than right choices.

Sometimes, you have to make wrong choices to know what is right. Jane Lake predicts Jessica will eventually come crawling back to Nick, and Nick will mistakenly take her back. If she loses her looks quick enough, it may actually last!

Britney, Madonna, Kabbalah, and Jane Lake

What do all these things have in common?

NOTHING!!!!!

I had a little involvement in Kabbalah years ago and I can say, like anything, it has its positives and negatives, but the biggest negative I saw was the focus on fundraising.

Religion is about your relationship with a supreme being, not money.

When I came to New York, I was bombarded with Scientologists (Dianetics) wanting to help me, if I would just pay up for their excellent training course!

Let's remember that you can pray anywhere (and yes, it does help!), and it's free!

Jane Lake Plans Her Future!

My plan for the game show is as follows: (assuming we actually get on!)

1) Win at least 8 times in a row!

2) Get booked on Letterman.

3) Do a commercial for either "Chain Reaction" or "Dial Soap"!

4) Get written up in the New York Post.

5) Get a sitcom pilot (we are Seinfeld for the 21st century)

That should at least take up the next few months. Now if this actually happens, no one can say it wasn't planned out carefully!

Jane Lake Likes to Blog!

Well my first week of blogging has ended, and I have to say......I LOVE IT!

Thank you to all my visitors, and please click my ads to support my adventure!

I promise that next week will be filled with even more scintillating and thought provoking material. I have learned a lot of blog basics, but I will not bore you with that, as I know you just want to hear me rant.

Lets go METS!

If there is some topic you want to hear my views on, feel free to ask in the comments. I would love to talk about anything you may be interested in.

So the audition for the game show went well!!

We had to take a test which was like:

Rose _____ League, and you had to write the word that fits both of the other words. In this case "Bush". It was pretty hard and none of us did extremely well, but my friend pointed out that they wouldn't want people that would always get it correct or it wouldn't be much of a show.

Then we did an on camera round with just our team. Again, gamewise we didn't excel, but we were funny and personable and they seemed to like us.

I think we have a good chance, but they aren't calling people for another month, so once again, stay tuned!

Wow! A lot of big news today. 1) Al Zaqarwi dead. 2) Ann Coulter on a rampage. 3)Jane Lake auditions for a game show. (audition is tonight so stay tuned!)

I will give you my 2 cents on the above mentioned news items.

1) Nobody's death is anything to cheer about. I'm sure the line of evildoers behind him is longer than we would like to think. Like I said in a previous post, it is about temptation. These people are surrounded by little voices saying "do bad things", and the good voices are nowhere to be seen. An Al Zaqarwi that changes his ways and comes over to the good side is worth a million dead Al Zaqarwis.

2) Ann Coulter is an expert at pressing people's buttons. Criticizing the wives of 9/11 victims is a giant button pusher. She sells more books, more people know who she is, and listen. To her it is win-win. She in fact is doing the exact same thing as the women she is criticizing. She is using the sensitivity of 9/11 to attract attention. Ann is smart as a fox!

3)If my friends and I make it on to this game show, I will be sure to use it as a political platform by either having a wardrobe malfunction or bad mouthing Hillary Clinton.

Wednesday, June 07, 2006

Tomorrow I am auditioning for a new game show, "Chain Reaction", where 3 gals compete against three guys. I think my friends and I will kick some proverbial butt!

There is a test and an interview. I am not too worried about the test as we are all brainiacs, but the interview may be a challenge, as my friends can be loose cannons.

I don't know what the potential prize money is yet, but anything will be an upgrade.

Any advice is appreciated.

Wish us luck!

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

It is only appropriate on 6/6/06 to address the headliner, Mr. Pitchfork.

As the world is still here, it is clear that his powers are limited. In fact, the only thing he seems to be able to do is provide temptation. Of course that results in a lot of bad stuff happening. (Just look at the Brad Pitt debacle!).

Without temptation, nobody would cheat on anybody they love. Nobody would steal, and nobody would kill. "Lead us not into temptation" is a key request in the most said prayer. I would be perfectly happy to live without temptation as it would allow me to focus on happiness and love.

We should have an avoid temptation day where everyone consciously walks away from something tempting (cake, pretty girl or boy, etc.). I think we would all be better off for it and Mr. Pitchfork would have a tizzy fit!

Monday, June 05, 2006

Okay, so I submitted the site to some search engines, received a comment, and had my profile viewed 20 times!

I think I am on my way.

The great thing about blogging is the power it gives you to speak to the world (or the 5 people that end up reading this). I have to admit that although I would never want to be a politician, I love to have my opinion heard.

Jane Lake's five most important values:

1) Peace (War is stupid, let's play instead. Even kids know that!)
2) Love (Needs to be taught in school, and not just on Valentine's day!)

Well, two for now is fine. You will need to stay tuned for the other three.

Friday, June 02, 2006

This is my first day as a blogger. I know not what I do, but my goal is to be the most successful blogger of all time.

This is like a reality TV show only on the Internet. You will see step by step how I figure out how to become interesting and popular through the simple posting of interesting ideas and thoughts.

I hope that you will join me in my adventure, and revel in my success and laugh with me with my travails.
